NEW Annual Fund

This new fund will consist of contributions from Sorority members, families, and friends. The Annual Fund is not an endowed fund; rather the entire principle of the fund will be available to Alpha Sigma Tau Sorority through educational grants.

The Board of Directors also determined that when the Endowed Education Fund (EEF) is fully endowed at $75,000, funds in excess of $75,000 that are contributed or accrued to the Endowed Education Fund in any fiscal year will be transferred to the Annual Fund.

Endowment

The Endowment Fund is, as the name implies, a permanent fund whose principal is invested to provide a continuing source of interest for its major purpose, to provide loans to chapters for collegiate chapter housing.  Interest from the fund can also be used for programming for the sorority.  The funds used for programming must promote the growth and vitality of ΑΣΤ all within IRS guidelines.

Pine Mountain Settlement School

Pine Mountain Settlement School located in Harlan, Kentucky provides environmental education programs for groups of children, teachers, community residents and Elderhostel. It also provides teachers to local schools in the area for supplemental remedial instruction during the year. Contributions are sent at the end of each year for the needs requested by Pine Mountain School.

Endowed Education Fund

The Endowed Education Fund is a permanent fund whose principal is invested to provide a continuing source of interest that can be used for grants to the sorority for educational programs within IRS guidelines.

Individual Foundation Scholarships

General and Special scholarships are established by members or established to honor members. Endowed scholarships provide annual scholarships from the interest over expenses in the fund. Members file an application if they meet the criteria and a membership selection committee evaluates and recommends applicants for the awards.

NOTE: Please be patient as we work out the kinks in donating to an Individual Foundation Scholarship.

Sustained Giving

Members contribute on a regular basis, usually monthly, whenever they receive their pay check, or yearly when they think of their income tax deductions. The planned giving is toward their special project. It might be a scholarship they are funding, contributions to Pine Mountain, or to fulfill their pledge to the Endowed Education Fund. Two scholarships are being funded in this manner currently and a number of pledges to the Endowed Education Fund. You can do this via check (funds will be deducted each month from your checking account) or should you want it charged to your credit card monthly, utilize the Paypal option below.
